Nutritional Support
This is one of the key interventions to combat the constant challenge of child and elderly headed households, and other orphaned and vulnerable children in Delmas (including those with chronic conditions). We are aware that decent meals are hard to come by, hence we provide nutritious food parcels and sanitary on a monthly basis, delivered to their places of residence. We also help start and run nutritional gardens for families for the purpose of producing the food they need, themselves. Moreover, we avail ourselves to ensure vitamin and minerals support.
Psychosocial Support
This is mainstreamed in all our program areas. Some of the main sectional activities include providing initial professional contact with clients requiring support or assistance from Eco Village.
Foster Care Program: Eco village works mainly with formal foster cares properly screened by the Department of Social Welfare.
Educational support
Concerning our ECD education programme, we follow a theme-based curriculum with an emphasis on play. A small group of children in each class enables the teacher to focus on the individual needs of each child. Programmes allow for both structure and free play activities. It also includes development of various skills e.g. visual perception, auditory perception, language, science, music and movement, gross motor, fine motor, creative art, and life skills. The education programme ensures that all children enrolled with Eco Village are placed in institutions of learning and development from ECD to tertiary.
We make provision of the children's school uniforms, stationary and other learning needs, providing a link between the school and families. We do all we can to make all parents or caregivers interested in children’s education as well as motivate the children to remain in school for the best possible grades. Emphasis is placed on excellence in area of studies and academic performance. We facilitate the payment of fees, retention of children in school, and provide after school support to motivate children's improved results.
Health Support
This program gives care and support to the elderly, orphaned children and adults who have chronic conditions, have been raped, and abused physically and mentally. We facilitate proper diagnosis by ensuring supervised clinic referrals, and patients on ART (Antiretroviral therapy) are transported to appropriate clinics and hospitals on a monthly basis. We furthermore organize therapists for counselling sessions. Home visits are also conducted to ensure adherence to treatment, and home care for senior citizens.
